New Technology, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Specialist Announced

NEW TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP SPECIALIST JOINS LOCAL SMALL BUSINES DEVELOPMENT CENTER

The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Champaign County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has selected Tim Montague, M.S., CFRE as its new Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Specialist. Montague was the top candidate following a 3-month search and comprehensive evaluation and interview process that included the SBDC, the EDC, and community leaders.

Mr. Montague, a past marketing and business consultant, brings over fifteen years of sales, marketing and fundraising experience in technology, recruitment, non-profit, professional services, and high education industries. He is a Board member of the Illinois Green Business Association and co-leader of the Champaign County Sustainability Network. He holds an M.S. in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in biology from the University of California at San Diego.

“We are excited that a professional with the breadth and depth of Tim’s background has joined our team,” said Mike Kirchhoff, President & CEO of the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation. “His expertise will be a significant asset in expanding the array of services we offer to entrepreneurs through our Small Business Development Center.”

The SBDC at Champaign County EDC offers no-fee counseling for existing and startup businesses. It is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration in partnership with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation. He joins Greg Gonda and Bill Wilkinson as the third staff member.
